One Staff's Story

I am taking this time to write this letter in regards to my experiences with Kennedy House. Well, back in 1999 I was placed at the Day Treatment program as part of a Centennial College placement program. This is when I fell in love with Kennedy House. Although I was still a student taking a Child and Youth Worker program, they worked with me to make me feel like part of their team. They helped me work with my weaknesses and to utilize my strengths.

However, this was just the beginning of my experiences with various residential treatment centers. Wow! Was I in for a surprise, I wasn’t treated as a staff but as a student with limited information passed to me, or chances to grow as a Child and youth Worker. In addition, I think that is why that five years later I have returned to K.H.Y’S. I am proud to say that “I have been around the block” but I am back at home.
